Small states made up of islands around the world face dependence on imported fuel, combining high raw material and import costs. The creation of wind farms in Cape Verde has made it possible to monetize the abundant Saharan wind by turning it into energy, which has been reflected in a significant reduction in diesel import costs and a considerable increase in its energy security.
