Cabeólica's concern for the environment began during the pre-construction phase, when several studies were carried out in order to, firstly, responsibly identify, in coordinationwith all relevant agencies, the locations for its four wind farms and, secondly, to better structure its Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) according to the needs concerning the areas of intervention and surroundings.

These measures were taken with the aim of reducing the company's ecological impact as much as possible.

The ESMP,which extends over a 20-year period, includes the potential environmental and social impacts anticipated during the construction, operation, and decommissioning phases of the project, and the mitigation measures to be takenin order to minimize or, ideally, prevent them.

The ESMP, also includes measures for social and ecological improvements,as well as a conservation management plan, which aim to go beyond the company's direct obligations and provide overall positive benefits for Cape Verde's environmental sustainability.

The main environmental impacts expected from the injection of power into the grid are identified and monitored on an ongoing basis to ensure the successful implementation of the ESMP measures.
