The Santiago wind farm began injecting energy in the grid (commissioning stage) in September of 2011 and was inaugurated on October 21, 2011. It is the largest of the Cabeolica wind farms, in terms of installed capacity, and the first to enter into operation.
The Santiago wind farm is located on the southern part of the island, on Monte de São Felipe, in near proximity to the center of the city of Praia. This wind farm occupies roughly 30 hectares of land and contains 11 wind turbines which translates into a total installed capacity of 9.35 MW.
This wind farm has a maximum daily production capacity of 224.4 MWh and has received, to date, more than 600 visitors.
It’s record daily penetration rate is 41%.
