Cabeolica monitors various environmental and social guidelines in order to guarantee the well-being of our environment and the community.
Our commitment to sustainable development is reflected in the company’s vision, guiding its environmental and social activities.
Cabeolica is the main producer of renewable energy in Cape Verde’s energy matrix, producing substantial amounts of clean energy for national networks.
Over the years, the company remains committed to increasing its participation and contribution to environmental and social sustainability.
The factors under monitoring of the environmental and social guidelines are:
The results of the monitoring of these indicators are presented every year in an Annual Monitoring Report.
Cabeolica’s concern for the environment began during the pre-construction phase, when several studies were carried out in order to, in the first place, identify, in a responsible manner and in coordination with all relevant agencies, the locations of its four wind farms and, secondly, to better structure its Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) according to the needs related to the intervention areas and surroundings.
These measures were taken with the aim of reducing the company’s ecological impact as much as possible.
The ESMP, which extends over a period of 20 years, includes the potential environmental and social impacts expected during the construction, operation and decommissioning phases of the project, and the mitigation measures to be taken in order to minimize or, ideally, stop them.
The main environmental impacts predicted by the injection of energy into the electricity grid are identified and monitored constantly in order to guarantee a good implementation of the ESMP measures.
