The Santiago wind farm began injecting energy into the grid (test phase) in September 2011 and was inaugurated on October 21, 2011. It was Cabeólica's first wind farm to go into operation and has the largest installed capacity.
The Santiago wind farm is located in the southern part of the island, on Monte de São Filipe, near Cidade da Praia. This park occupies about 30 hectares of land, and contains 11 wind turbines, which translates into an installed capacity of 9.35 MW.
The maximum daily generation capacity of the park is 224.4 MWh and to date the Santiago park has received more than 600 visitors.
Its daily penetration record is 41%.
